KATHMANDU — The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu honored more than 200 outstanding Nepali students during the 14th Annual Ambassador of Pakistan Scholarship Ceremony held at Aloft Hotel on Wednesday.

The event brought together students, teachers, parents, and representatives from Nepal’s education and media sectors to celebrate academic achievement and educational excellence.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Abrar H. Hashmi, presided over the ceremony as chief guest and personally presented scholarships to deserving Higher Secondary School students from across Nepal. The recipients were selected by their respective schools based on academic merit and financial need.

A special tribute was paid to the 150th Birth Anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. On the occasion, a laptop was awarded to Ms. Prapti Lamsal of the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus, under Tribhuvan University, in recognition of her outstanding academic performance among this year’s scholarship recipients.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Hashmi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s education sector and investing in the country’s future generations.

“This is not just a scholarship ceremony, it is a celebration of Nepal’s future,” he said, encouraging students to develop expertise in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), health sciences, biosciences, innovation, diplomacy, financial literacy, and critical thinking.

The ambassador highlighted that Pakistan’s educational support for Nepal extends beyond secondary education. The assistance includes scholarships for primary and higher secondary students, tertiary-level scholarships for study in Pakistan, and institutional support for Nepali schools in areas such as information technology, sports, liberal arts, and STEM education.

Launched in 2013, the Ambassador of Pakistan Scholarship Program has become one of the most prominent foreign scholarship initiatives in Nepal. Over the years, it has supported thousands of Nepali students in pursuing their academic goals and advancing educational opportunities across the country.

The ceremony underscored the longstanding educational cooperation between Pakistan and Nepal and highlighted the role of scholarships in fostering academic excellence and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
