Himalayan Life’s Profit Falls 42%, Insurance Fund Crosses NPR 89 Billion
Kathmandu — Himalayan Life Insurance Limited has reported a decline in profit for fiscal year 2025/26, while its life insurance fund and retained earnings recorded strong growth.
According to the company’s unaudited fourth-quarter financial statements, net profit fell 41.90% to NPR 317.7 million from NPR 546.9 million a year earlier. Earnings per share also declined from NPR 5.98 to NPR 3.48.
Despite the drop in profit, the company’s life insurance fund grew 16.21% to NPR 89.42 billion, up from NPR 76.94 billion in the previous fiscal year. Retained earnings increased 48.87% to NPR 1.05 billion, while the catastrophe reserve rose to NPR 472.2 million.
Net insurance premium income increased 6.18% to NPR 18.33 billion. However, total income fell 3.59% to NPR 24.50 billion. Total expenses also declined marginally by 0.69% to NPR 23.67 billion.

Total claim payments increased 7.92% to NPR 7.92 billion, while agent commissions rose 4.20% to NPR 1.52 billion.
The company’s paid-up capital remained unchanged at NPR 9.14 billion. Net worth per share stood at NPR 93.31, while its solvency margin ratio declined from 3.86% to 1.32%.
