Kathmandu — The net profit of non-life insurance companies declined significantly in the last fiscal year, with the sector’s profitability continuing to come under pressure amid the slow recovery from losses caused by floods, landslides and the Gen Z protests.

The combined net profit of non-life insurance companies fell by 39 percent year-on-year to NPR 2.79 billion in the last fiscal year.

In the previous fiscal year 2024/25, these companies had earned a combined net profit of NPR 4.59 billion.

An analysis of the financial statements for the last fiscal year shows that Prabhu Insurance was the only company to record an increase in profit, while all other companies posted declines.
