Non-Life Insurers Face Backlog of Over 100,000 Unsettled Claims
Kathmandu — More than 100,000 insurance claims remain unsettled across 14 non-life insurance companies operating in Nepal, according to their financial statements for fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83).
As of the end of Ashadh 2026, the companies had a combined 104,748 claims pending settlement, up 7.39 percent from 97,538 claims at the end of fiscal year 2024/25(2081/82). The number of outstanding claims increased by 7,210 in one year.
Shikhar Insurance had the highest number of pending claims, with 14,993 outstanding as of the end of fiscal year 2025/26. The figure was 12,507 a year earlier, representing a 19.88 percent increase.
Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance had 11,648 pending claims, down 6.99 percent from 12,523 a year earlier. Siddhartha Premier Insurance had 11,259 outstanding claims, compared with 11,497 in the previous fiscal year.

Neco Insurance had 10,906 pending claims, followed by Himalayan Everest Insurance with 9,640, United Ajod Insurance with 9,498, IGI Prudential Insurance with 7,897, NLG Insurance with 6,565 and Rastriya Beema Company with 5,964.
Nepal Insurance had 5,898 unsettled claims, up 31.39 percent from 4,489 a year earlier. It recorded the highest percentage increase in outstanding claims among the companies.
Sanima GIC Insurance had 5,120 pending claims, while Prabhu Insurance had 1,970 and National Insurance had 1,750.
Oriental Insurance had 1,640 claims pending settlement at the end of the fiscal year, up 2.31 percent from 1,603 a year earlier.
