Pakistan Conveys Condolences to Nepal Over Deadly Flood Disaster

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan extended a formal gesture of sympathy to Nepal this week, dispatching two senior figures to the Nepalese Embassy in Islamabad after a devastating chain of natural disasters struck the Himalayan nation.

Acting on directions from the President, former Senate Chairman Syed Nayyar Bokhari and presidential spokesperson Murtaza Solangi called on the embassy to pass along a message of grief and support on behalf of the Pakistani head of state and the nation at large. The visit came in the wake of catastrophic flooding that hit Nepal last week, triggered by a combination of landslides and a glacial outburst near the frontier Nepal shares with China. The disaster left a trail of destruction and claimed numerous lives.

Nepal’s envoy to Pakistan, Ambassador Rita Dhital, welcomed the two visitors at the mission. In brief remarks, she thanked Pakistan’s government and its citizens for standing by Nepal at such a painful moment, calling the outreach a meaningful sign of friendship between the two countries.

Before departing, Bokhari and Solangi put their condolences in writing, signing the embassy’s Visitors’ Book with personal notes expressing sorrow over the losses and solidarity with the Nepalese people as recovery efforts continue.

The visit adds to a string of diplomatic gestures aimed at reinforcing ties between Islamabad and Kathmandu at a time when Nepal is still assessing the full scale of the damage from the flooding.
