Revised Preliminary Insurance Claims from Rasuwa Bhotekoshi Flood Total NPR 13.57 Billion
Kathmandu — Although an earlier report had indicated that insurance claims for damage caused by the devastating flood that swept through Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on Bhadra 10 exceeded NPR 25 billion, BeemaPost has prepared revised figures following verification of the data. According to the revised figures, insurance claims totaling NPR 13.5735 billion had been filed as of Bhadra 15.
The revised figure was obtained after BeemaPost cross-checked the data provided by the Nepal Insurance Authority as of Bhadra 15 with information received directly from the respective insurance companies and re-entered the verified figures. According to the data, claims had been filed by 583 policyholders.
By company, United Ajod Insurance has recorded the largest amount of claims so far. The insurer has received claims exceeding NPR 4.9748 billion from 38 policyholders. Sanima GIC Insurance ranks second, with claims totaling NPR 2.1028 billion filed by 102 policyholders.
Shikhar Insurance follows with claims of NPR 1.8754 billion, while The Oriental Insurance has recorded NPR 742.1 million, Himalayan Everest Insurance NPR 647.8 million, Neco Insurance NPR 517 million, and Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance (SALICO) NPR 242.3 million in claims.
Similarly, Nepal Insurance has recorded claims of NPR 238.6 million, IGI Prudential Insurance NPR 187.3 million, NLG Insurance NPR 113.1 million, Prabhu Insurance NPR 31.2 million, Rastriya Beema Company NPR 7.6 million, National Insurance NPR 5.3 million, and Nepal Micro Insurance NPR 500,000.
By policy type, engineering and contractor-risk insurance accounts for claims totaling NPR 8.2077 billion. Property insurance claims amount to NPR 2.3462 billion, motor insurance claims NPR 1.5509 billion, transport insurance claims NPR 897.7 million, other insurance claims NPR 529.2 million, and health insurance claims NPR 41.6 million.
