Kathmandu – The MetLife Foundation has extended its Community Impact Grant Program (CIGP) to Nepal, supporting non-profit organizations that address pressing challenges in underserved communities. Three organizations working in the fields of hunger relief, housing, and environmental sustainability have been selected as grant recipients, collectively benefiting more than 16,000 people.

Action Against Hunger will receive a grant of $100,000 to improve food security and nutrition in Belaka, Udayapur. The project aims to help 5,000 individuals by empowering mothers with nutritional education, counseling, and screening. This initiative is designed to foster long-term behavioral changes that will promote healthier future generations.

Another organization, NIVAS, has been awarded $88,000 to transform the lives of 10,000 people through advocacy and skill-building programs. By helping women secure access to land and housing, the project seeks to uplift marginalized groups, enhance mental and physical health, and create a stronger sense of community resilience.

In the Himalayan region of Solukhumbu, Solucham’s “Awake” project has been granted $50,000 to provide environmental sustainability training to 1,000 minority youth. The program aims to develop environmentally conscious leaders who can contribute to sustainable development in their communities.

Highlighting the importance of these efforts, Nirmal Kaji Shrestha, General Manager of MetLife Nepal noted that these efforts will create a positive ripple effect by strengthening communities, empowering women and equipping the next generation with the tools to lead with resilience and confidence.
