Non-Life Insurance Companies Collect Over Rs 21.30 Billion in Premiums Across Provinces

January 28th, 2025

Kathmandu – Non-life insurance companies, including four micro-insurers, have collected over Rs 21.30 billion in insurance premiums by end of the Poush month, according to data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority. The premiums were generated from various policies, including property, marine, aviation, motor, engineering, contracts, miscellaneous, agriculture, and microinsurance.

Bagmati Province leads in premium collection, accounting for Rs 14.21 billion. The high collection is attributed to the province’s status as the federal capital, its large population, and its role as a commercial hub.

Lumbini Province ranks second with Rs 1.90 billion in premiums, followed by Koshi Province with Rs 1.85 billion. Other provinces, including Madhesh (Rs 1.43 billion), Gandaki (Rs 1.14 billion), and Sudurpashchim (Rs 545 million), also contributed to the total.

Karnali Province recorded the lowest premium collection, with Rs 198 million. The lower figure is attributed to its remoteness, lack of public awareness about insurance, and slower development.
