Non-Life Insurers Write Rs 4.09 Billion in Premiums in Mid-May–Mid-June; Sagarmatha Lumbini Leads Monthly Business
Kathmandu – Nepal’s non-life insurance industry recorded Rs 4.09 billion in gross written premiums during the period from May 15 to June 14, 2026, according to business statistics published by the Nepal Insurance Authority.
The 14 non-life insurers operating in the country generated a combined Rs 4.09 billion in premiums during the month, up from Rs 3.94 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. This represents a 3.92% year-on-year increase in monthly business volume.
Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance (SALICO) recorded the highest premium income during the period at Rs 515.2 million, followed by Shikhar Insurance with Rs 434.1 million, Siddhartha Premier Insurance with Rs 425.7 million, IGI Prudential Insurance with Rs 393.7 million, and Himalayan Everest Insurance with Rs 382.8 million.
Other insurers reported the following premium income:
United Ajod Insurance: Rs 290.4 million
NLG Insurance: Rs 287.9 million
Neco Insurance: Rs 269.6 million
Rastriya Beema Company: Rs 237.1 million
Oriental Insurance: Rs 215.3 million
Sanima GIC Insurance: Rs 192.2 million
Nepal Insurance: Rs 161.8 million
Prabhu Insurance: Rs 151.7 million
National Insurance: Rs 132.5 million
In terms of growth, National Insurance posted the strongest performance, with premium income surging 178% compared to the same period last year. It was followed by Rastriya Beema Company (56.72%), Oriental Insurance (27.79%), Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance (11.47%), and IGI Prudential Insurance (6.45%).
Among other insurers reporting growth, Shikhar Insurance increased premiums by 6.12%, Neco Insurance by 5.25%, Prabhu Insurance by 4.67%, and Nepal Insurance by 3.89%.
Meanwhile, several insurers recorded declines in business. Premium income fell by 0.74% at Siddhartha Premier Insurance, 9.75% at NLG Insurance, 10.91% at United Ajod Insurance, 11.52% at Himalayan Everest Insurance, and 27.18% at Sanima GIC Insurance.
