Renewal Premium Income of Life Insurers Rises 9.56%, Nepal Life Leads While IME Life Posts Fastest Growth
Kathmandu — Life insurance companies in Nepal collected Rs 107.72 billion in renewal premiums during the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2025/26(2082/83), marking a 9.56% increase from Rs 98.32 billion recorded in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year 2024/25(2081/82).
Renewal premiums are periodic payments made by policyholders to keep their life insurance policies in force. For insurers, they represent one of the most stable and significant sources of recurring revenue.
Nepal Life Insurance remained the largest contributor to renewal premium collections, generating Rs 28.49 billion during the review period. It was followed by LIC Nepal with Rs 12.70 billion, National Life with Rs 11.66 billion, Himalayan Life with Rs 11.49 billion, and Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company with Rs 8.25 billion.

Among the remaining insurers, SuryaJyoti Life collected Rs 6.36 billion, Asian Life Rs 5.49 billion, Citizen Life Rs 4.12 billion, Sanima Reliance Life Rs 3.94 billion, MetLife Nepal Rs 3.74 billion, IME Life Rs 3.20 billion, Reliable Nepal Life Rs 2.99 billion, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life Rs 2.97 billion, and Sun Nepal Life Rs 2.33 billion in renewal premiums.
In terms of year-on-year growth, IME Life recorded the strongest performance with a 23.26% increase in renewal premium income. Reliable Nepal Life followed with 19.13%, while Sun Nepal Life grew by 16.69%, Citizen Life by 15.17%, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life by 14.38%, and Sanima Reliance Life by 13.38%.
