Micro Insurance Premiums Reach Rs 1.28 Billion in Second Quarter, National Life Leads
Kathmandu – Life insurance companies in Nepal have collectively amassed Rs 1.287 billion in premiums through micro insurance policies during the first six months of the current fiscal year, as per the Nepal Insurance Authority’s recent report.
National Life Insurance has emerged as the top contributor, collecting Rs 427.2 million in premiums. Following closely, Citizen Life accumulated Rs 206.6 million, while Sanima Reliance recorded Rs 136.1 million. Suryajyoti Life and MetLife collected Rs 106.3 million and Rs 55 million, respectively. Nepal Life contributed Rs 33.6 million to the total.
Other life insurers also made significant contributions. Reliable Nepal Life collected Rs 6.1 million, Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life secured Rs 32.2 million, Asian Life gathered Rs 2.5 million, and Sun Nepal Life collected Rs 2.1 million. LIC Nepal managed Rs 200,000, while Himalayan Life recorded a modest Rs 12,000 in premiums.
The report also highlighted contributions from micro life insurance companies. Guardian Micro Life led this segment with Rs 125.5 million in collections, followed by Liberty Micro Life with Rs 47.9 million. Crest Micro Life collected Rs 1.1 million during the same period.
