Foreign Employment Insurance Generates Rs 1.66 Billion in Six Months
Kathmandu – Life insurance companies in Nepal have collected Rs 1.66 billion in premiums from foreign employment insurance policies in the first six months of the current fiscal year. As per the Nepal Insurance Authority, 14 life insurance companies, including three micro life insurers, participated in providing mandatory insurance coverage to workers going abroad.
Sun Nepal Life Insurance led the segment, collecting Rs 686.22 million in premiums. Asian Life followed with Rs 353.1 million, while Nepal Life secured third place with Rs 146.7 million. Other notable contributors include National Life with Rs 110 million, IME Life with Rs 90 million, and Sanima Reliance Life with Rs 80 million.
SuryaJyoti Life and Reliable Nepal Life both collected Rs 60 million, Citizen Life earned Rs 40 million, and Himalayan Life gathered Rs 2.2 million. Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life reported the lowest collection among the major insurers, earning just Rs 1.5 million.
Among the micro life insurance companies, Guardian Micro Life earned Rs 900,000, Liberty Micro Life collected Rs 800,000, and Crest Micro Life recorded Rs 300,000.
