MetLife Nepal Launches Ear Health Program for Schoolchildren

January 26th, 2025

Kathmandu – MetLife Nepal, in partnership with Ear Care Nepal, is set to launch a 10-week “School Ear Health Program” targeting 2,400 students from government schools in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur districts.

The initiative aims to identify, prevent, and raise awareness about ear-related health issues among children attending community schools. Experts from Ear Care Nepal will conduct ear tests in 8 to 10 schools using portable audiogram machines. While minor issues will be treated on-site, complex cases will be referred for further medical attention. Educational materials will also be distributed to inform students, teachers, and parents about ear health.

Nirmal Kajee Shrestha, General Manager of MetLife Nepal, emphasized the program’s significance, stating, “This program reflects our commitment to improving the health and well-being of children by addressing ear and hearing issues seriously.”

MetLife Nepal, operating in the country since 2001, provides a range of insurance services, while Ear Care Nepal, established in 2013, has been conducting school-based ear health initiatives, including free surgeries for complex cases.
