Supreme Court Schedules Full Hearing on Writ Against Nepal Insurance Authority Chair Appointment

Kathmandu — The Supreme Court has scheduled a full hearing for the writ petition challenging the appointment of Sharad Ojha as Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority. The hearing is set to take place today.
A joint bench of Justices Abdul Aziz Musalman and Bal Krishna Dhakal issued an order instructing that all writ petitions related to the appointment be heard together. The Court also directed that responses be collected from all relevant parties named in the petitions, and that the necessary documents, including the ordinance related to the appointment, be submitted for review.
Advocate Indira Dhamala filed the initial petition on March 30, and the first hearing was held on April 2. At that time, the Court had asked the concerned parties to submit written responses. However, subsequent proceedings were postponed on multiple occasions.
The Court has now emphasized that procedural delays should not prevent the case from moving forward. The full hearing may also include discussions on the previously postponed request for an interim order.
