Kathmandu : Believing that FEJA will be of great importance in the development of the ability of women to wield a pen in the financial sector, the Economic Women’s Journalists Association (FEJA) held its official opening on Monday’s program. Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat was the chief guest of the union and officially announced the operation.

Finance Minister Dr. Mahat remarks the official opening program of FEJA, said that it is a great task for big women to unite themselves. He expressed his best wishes for the success of FEJA, which was established to create opportunities for women.”I believe that FEJA will play a major role in the development of women’s ability to use pens in the economic sector. To end discrimination within the field of journalism, women should be given equal opportunities, he said. He also expressed the commitment that the Ministry of Finance is always ready for the capacity development of economic women journalists.

Similarly, Finance Minister Mahat addressing to the program, that discrimination against those who have no power has been happening since history and Finance that FEJA will play a big role in empowering all women journalists. Recently, although the participation of women in financial journalism sector it is not enough, he said that FEJA should work on producing more capable women.

Speaking at the program, Nepal Securities Board Chairman Ramesh Hamal said that there is an old trend in Nepali society of not connecting the work done by women with economic aspects. FEJA said that he is confident in improving the capacity of women journalists by breaking such trends. He also said that he is satisfied that financial literacy, positive economic development, correct information and knowledge will reach the country through news.

President of SEBON Hamal, President of Nepal Bankers Association Sunil KC, President of Independent Power Producers Association (IPPAN) Ganesh Karki, President of Nepal Insurer Association Chunki Chhetri, President of National Cooperative Federation Minraj Kadel, President of Communication Group Bimala Tumkheva, President of Capital Market Association Radha Pokhrel participated in the program. He expressed his best wishes for the success of the association.

FEJA is an association of women who have been writing in the field of economic journalism. It enhances the capacity of active journalists in this field, creates opportunities and coordinates with related agencies for the rights and interests of journalists. With its formal inauguration, the association has called for general membership.
