Senior Director Kamal Prasad Regmi Takes Charge at Nepal Insurance Authority
Kathmandu – The Nepal Insurance Authority is currently being managed by Senior Director Kamal Prasad Regmi after a leadership void arose due to the absence of both a chairperson and an executive director. Regmi, being the most senior official, has taken charge of overseeing daily administrative tasks and ensuring the smooth regulation of the insurance sector.
As outlined in the authority’s staff regulations, the senior-most official assumes responsibility for leadership in such circumstances. Regmi has stepped into this role to ensure continuity in operations during this transitional phase.
The Ministry of Finance has emphasized the importance of autonomy for the Nepal Insurance Authority, noting that it has its own laws and regulations that allow employees to function independently. Ministry officials have urged the authority to focus on institutional growth and proactive governance without waiting for external intervention.
Meanwhile, the government is preparing to appoint an interim chairperson through a policy-level decision to address the leadership gap and maintain stability at the authority.
