Pakistan Embassy in Kathmandu Hosts Alumni Gathering for Nepali Army Officers Trained in Pakistan

Kathmandu — The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu hosted a distinguished alumni gathering on May 7, 2025, bringing together senior and former officers of the Nepali Army who received training at various institutions of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The event was graced by General Gaurav Shumsher JB Rana, former Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, who attended as the chief guest. Also present as special guest was General Rajendra Chhetri, another former Chief of Army Staff of Nepal. A delegation from Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU), currently on an official visit to Nepal, also participated in the program.
Delivering the welcome address, Colonel Muhammad Ali Alvi, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of Pakistan, reflected on the longstanding military cooperation between Nepal and Pakistan, particularly in the area of training and education. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to supporting the professional development of the Nepali Army through capacity-building initiatives and strategic partnerships.
Highlighting the importance of these training exchanges, General Rana stated that the knowledge and experience gained by Nepali Army personnel in Pakistan have greatly contributed to the professional growth of individuals and to the institutional strength of the Nepal Army.
In his concluding remarks, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, emphasized the deep-rooted relations between the two nations, grounded in mutual respect, trust, and shared strategic interests. He voiced optimism that the military-to-military cooperation between Nepal and Pakistan will continue to deepen in the years to come.
Ambassador Hashmi also addressed regional security concerns, strongly condemning what he described as India’s “unprovoked aggression”—a violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and a breach of international law. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s right to defend its territorial integrity under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The event offered a platform for Nepali military alumni to reconnect with fellow officers and reflect on their experiences in Pakistan. Participants extended their appreciation to the Embassy of Pakistan for organizing the reunion and acknowledged the enduring value of their training abroad.
